Support Side Carbine: Technical and Defensive Skill Development w/ Self-Aid

Required Experience Level: Base Intermediate – Advanced Students

This training will focus on the technical aspects of Carbine Transitions to the Support-Side and Support-Side Shooting Techniques. Foundation fundamentals will be worked to build technique, efficiency and accuracy with accountability. The training will include a segment on Self-Aid which later will be incorporated into defensive training scenarios that emphasize and reinforce support-side use.

This training is a lead in to more advanced trainings such as Vehicular Dynamics.

Note: The training is designed to improve the base intermediate level student through advanced level student.
This is NOT a first time learning to shoot a carbine class.

•       All students must already understand and practice Muzzle Management plus all of the other elements of firearm(s) safety.
•       One must be able to keep ones finger(s) clear from the trigger and trigger space when they are NOT on-target and ready-to-engage the target.
•       All students must have knowledge of their firearm(s) working mechanics for their safe operation and use. This includes being able to safely operate and manage the firearm(s) effectively (load, reload, lock the slide / bolt to rear and place sites on target, press the trigger, placing rounds on an intended target).

Required Equipment:
  • M4/AR15 Type or AK type Carbine/Rifle w Iron Sights and/or Optics – fully functional/operational and lubricated
  • Spare Carbine/Rifle – optional but recommended
  • Extra Batteries for Optics
  • Tools: Any required by carbine/rifle, mounted equipment (including optics, Back Up Iron Sights (BUIS), etc.)
  • Sling – Adjustable 2-Point
  • Carbine Magazines (9) 30 Round; excellent condition or new (but tested)
  • Handgun - Service or concealment pistol (i.e. Glock 19 size or larger. No subcompact, micro or pocket pistols or revolvers. No single action only firearms (without prior approval)
  • 4 Handgun Magazines (min 10 rnd capacity)
  • Quality belt mounted holster - outside the waistband (inside waist holsters only with prior approval) – Holster must have at least strong friction retention
  • Dummy Rounds (15) minimum for Carbine Caliber - no spent brass allowed
  • Ammo - Carbine - Approx. 800-1000 Rounds (1000 minimum-on-hand) , no "Green Tip" with steel core. Bring extra.
  • Ammo Note: Bring extra. NO Reloads or Remanufactured Ammo
  • Lube and Rag
  • Cleaning Kit with sectional steel rod (or 1-piece) for carbine
  • Gear Belt w/ min of 1 Mag Holder (support side) for Carbine and 2 Mag Holder for Handgun
  • Addition Magazine Holder(s) for Carbine and Handgun per personal needs – Gear Belt Mounted, Chest Rig or Mag Carrier (Shooter may be expected to carry on themselves up to 6 carbine magazines).
  • Eye Protection – 2 pair (clear and sun protection)
  • Hearing Protection – electronic preferred
  • Knee Pads
  • Shooting gloves (support hand minimum)
  • Flashlight / extra batteries
  • Shooting Mat or Pad
  • Sharpie Marker (2)
  • Pen / Note Pad
  • Shooter's Cap
  • Cargo pants (no shorts), rain jacket / rain pants, fleece jacket: clothing suitable for weather and temperature
  • Kit Trauma w/ Tourniquet
  • First Aid Kit (Boo-boo Kit)
  • Sunscreen
  • Camp Chair
  • Cooler with H2O (and ice)
  • Snacks
  • Lunch: Student supplied (lunch options within 10 minutes drive of range)

Lunch (food options within 10 min drive as well) and Snacks

Cancellations: Received more than 72 hours prior to training will receive credit toward future training (Minus $75 scheduling fee, credit must be used within 4 months of the initially scheduled date). General cancelations within 72 hrs (without an emergency) will forfeit payment. Emergency situations are dealt with case-by-case and similar credit rules as above may apply.

Students must possess and produce a valid State issued drivers license and Concealed Firearms Permit / License (CCW or Equal) prior to training.

Fee: $350 PFG Member / $400 Non-Member

PAYMENT: Send payment for each student via PayPal (Do Not enter Remarks on PayPal). Send “friends & family" to the email address. Students responsible for any PayPal applied fees. Due day of training. Checks also accepted but must be received prior to training to hold the seat (Return checks: admin fee of $50 will be charged and due immediately with full payment via a bank check or cash).
